Single Cask Finish Rum – Peated Whisky is a limited and numbered edition that is the result of an exclusive blend of rums obtained by two generations of Madeira Island agricultural rum producers.
Our 6-year-old rum, carefully aged in French oak barrels, was blended with one of the last rums produced at the historic “Engenho do Hinton”, which closed in 1985, making it one of the oldest rums to be sold on the market.
Finally, the product that resulted from this exclusive combination of rums of different ages was subjected to a final 6-month ageing in a carefully selected 250L cask of ex-Scotland Peated Whisky.
The end result is a fantastic rum, full of history and offering a unique experience!
William Hinton Rum Single Cask Finish Peated Whisky 42º
Tasting Notes
Appearance
Clear and shiny rum, with a color amber with golden reflections.
Aroma
Distilled in a century-old column, this Single Peated Whisky Cask from William Hinton was aged in oak casks and finished in first-fill peated whisky casks, giving it a unique and singular character. With a clean, intense and complex aromatic profile, it initially reveals some sweetness with notes of vanilla, caramel and dark chocolate, followed by nuances of smoked nuts, wood, toast, hay and tobacco. The smoky and whisky notes are integrated in a harmonious way, while a delicate citrus touch brings freshness and balance to the whole.
Flavor
On the palate, this agricultural rum has a remarkable balance between sweet and smoky elements, while at the same time being structured and round in the mouth. The texture is delicate and enveloping, culminating in a long finish, smooth and very pleasant. The smoky notes persist elegantly, inviting new discoveries at each tasting.
Pairing
Opt for a medium to full-bodied cigar. The tobacco present in the rum harmonizes with the sensory experience of the cigar, creating a sophisticated taste.
Best served
Serve at room temperature, in a tulip-shaped glass to concentrate and enhance the aromas or in one of our personalized glasses.
